With sadness, we are reposting PAPNA’s message for awareness and the call for memories at the end:

“Our psychiatric nursing community has suffered a profound loss with the recent passing on July 7, 2025 of Donna Rolin, PHD, APRN, PMHCNS-BC, PMHNP-BC.

Donna was a bright, dynamic force for good. She was the Director of the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program at UT Austin since 2012. She was very active in APNA, where she served on the national Board of Directors in the role of Treasurer. She also previously served as President of PAPNA and was instrumental in the development of PAPN Texas. Donna was a mentor to many people and a devoted friend to even more. I struggle to find words that adequately describe her impact on the lives of her profession, patients, colleagues and friends. She will be greatly missed.

As I struggle to make sense of our loss, I am asking any of you whose lives Donna touched to send me a personal email describing the impact Donna has had on your personal life or professional career. Short or long any information would be appreciated. Please send me a personal email at lpapa@austin.rr.com or text 512 971 1315 with your memories, funny stories or profound moments, etc. I will combine these emails for presentation to Donna’s wife, Mari, and children as a special remembrance from our nursing community.. Please note whether you wish your submission to remain anonymous or can I publish your name.”
