Congratulations to Oralia Diaz our 2010 Austin APNs Scholarship Recipient

Ms Oralia Diaz is enrolled in the University of Texas Adult Health Clinical Nurse Specialist Program. She is expected to graduate May 2011. Prior to Graduate School she co–founded and worked in a non-profit organization Arte Sana focused on assisting Latin victims of sexual abuse and intimate partner violence .In 2003 the organization was recognized by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention for its efforts in working with traditionally underserved populations. Ms Diaz is a member of the Central Texas Diabetes Coalition and a nurse researcher for Home based Diabetes Symptom Self Management Project for the University of Texas .Her personal experience ,community awareness and activism ,along with ongoing commitment to access to health care is and will be an asset to Austin APNs community. We congratulate her and support her in her career goals as an APN graduate student . We will celebrate her acheivements and formally present her with her scholarship award at our September Business Meeting .Darby
