Educational Dinner Programs

Posted almost 14 years ago by Melanie Hampton

Dear Ausitn APN Members,

We had another wonderful dinner meeting last week sponsored by Merck. Thank you so much to all of those in attendance! Unfortunately, almost half of the people signed up to attend the dinner were no-shows. Several people who wanted to attend the dinner were unable to go because we had reached the capacity of the room and could not accept any more RSVP’s. Additionally, our sponsors were then saddled with a bill for several empty seats that they had guaranteed to the restaurant. We all understand that this is a group of professionals with constantly changing work schedules and, sometimes after signing on to attend a dinner several days to weeks in advance, life gets in the way. However, we ask that you extend the courtesy to your fellow members and our pharmaceutical sponsors to cancel your RSVP in a timely manner. A lot of planning goes into these events and we would like for our sponsors to want to continue their generous support that makes these dinners possible. Please contact Melanie Hampton at melanie.j.hampton@gmail.com or via the Austin APN website if you need to change your response.

Unfortnately, because this has been a problem we've had to address in the past the Steering Committee has decided to implement a new policy. We will continue to track RSVPs and in all fairness to other members as well as our dinner sponsors we will no longer accept a RSVP from a member who has been a no-show to an event 3 or more times in one year. This policy will be implemented beginning with our upcoming May 13th program. Please feel free to contact either Dorothy Darby or myself with any questions or concerns. Thank you for your understanding and I look forward to seeing each of you soon.
