TARGET AUDIENCE

  • Nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, physician assistants and collaborating physicians who want to learn leadership skills and ways to have a positive impact on the future of medicine should attend this course.

GOALS

  • This activity brings together advanced practice registered nurses, physician assistants and physicians to further develop their leadership skills and discuss ways interprofessional collaboration can strengthen health care delivery. Combining training in communication and advocacy with leadership as a common thread, this course is designed to provide an enjoyable and engaging learning experience while providing practical and relevant skills.

OBJECTIVES

  • Compare and contrast effective communication methods that help build effective leaders and relationships Identify the pressures placed on the health care system by evolutions in the health care environment and advances in technology Describe the issues health care leaders should be aware of that impact the practice of medicine within Texas. Describe issues with treating pain management in a changing health care delivery system
